[Abstract] In a sector in which audiences have an increasingly pivotal role, film companies must seek new methods of analysing and understanding audience tastes and behaviours within the context of competition, uncertainty and financial risk that characterises the creative and cultural industries. Based on neuromarketing technologies, neurocinema is a new filmmaking process designed to improve the effectiveness and predictability of media productions by analysing key aspects of cinema, such as emotion. The aim of this study is to investigate the application of neurocinema in the context of the audiovisual industry in Spain. The study consisted of a focus group analysis of the possible implementation of neurocinema in the context of Spanish cinema, exploring the advantages, ethical and artistic implications and possible future impact of the methodology. The results highlight the ongoing debate around this objective way of analysing the subjective nature of cinema from the point of view of academia and business, art and industry.
