La integracíon frente a la discriminación

Abstract

[Resumen] La discriminación es una realidad en la sociedad actual. Nos equivocamos al creer que basta con el nacimiento de un nuevo pensamiento más "integracionista" para que hayamos acabado con el racismo y; concluimos erradamente que, todos y todas somos iguales y que en las sociedades modernas alcanzamos la igualdad de oportunidades. Con este artículo pretendemos reflexionar sobre el hoy en la sociedad y, más concretamente, en el sistema educativo. No creemos que se haya llegado a la igualdad ni que las respuestas que se están desarrollando en este ámbito consigan erradicar sin más la discriminación. A lo largo de estas páginas se presentan temas que están en auge porque no se sabe cómo tratarlos, pero que tenemos que hacerlo. Creemos que la única solución viable es construir una escuela que eduque en los valores de igualdad y que permita eliminar el prejuicio sin lógica a través de conocimiento

[Abstract] Discrimination is a reality in today's society. We are wrong to believe that the birth of new, more integrationist thought is enough to end racism; and we conclude, erroneously, that we are all equal and that in modern societies we have equal opportunities. In this artiele our intent is to reflect upon the present social reality and, more specifically, upon the educational system. We do not believe equality has been achieved nor that the solutions being developed to this respect have managed to eradicate, purely and simply, discrimination. Throughout the paper, topics of current interest are introduced that- because no one quite knows how best to address them- must, for that very reason, be addressed. We believe that the only viable solution can be found in the construction of schooling premised on the values of equality- one that allows for the elimination of illogical prejudice, through knowledge.
