O problema da fixação da linguagem científica numa lingua em vias de normalização: o caso do galego

Abstract

[Resumen] Se intenta hacer una aproximación a la problemática de la fijación del lenguaje científico-técnico en el contexto social actual. La propuesta que se hace es, conservar ciertos términos propios, que ya tienen una tradicción entre los científicos gallegos, o también determinar la autenticidad de terminología geológica, basándonos en: a) Su existencia en la lengua viva definiendo fen6menos reconocibles científicamente. b) Palabras como topónimos, designando un lugar por sus características geoambientales. c) Su tradición en el lenguaje técnico-científico, tanto en Galiza como en Portugal o Brasil, considerando el sistema lingüístico común Luso-Galaico-Brasileiro en su conjunto, para facilitar la elecci6n de un término, que presente duda en su determinación. Se pone también énfasis en la fijaci6n del lenguaje técnico-cien(tfico frente a la situación de reciente entrada de España y Portugal en la CEE, y el proceso de uniformizaci6n léxico-gráfica que trae aparejado, pues nuestros dos países tendrán que participar en programas como EUROTRA, que fue lanzado por la propia CEE para la realización de un nuevo sistema de traducci6n automática que vendrá a sustituir al sistema SYSTRAN. O el proyecto EUROMATIQUE, que es un sistema de informaci6n multilingüe o el EUROLEXIC que se orienta a la producción de diccionarios..

[Abstract] This article' s aim is to make an approach to the problem of the scientific and technicallanguages in the modern social contexto The proposal consists on retaining certain characteristic words, which have a tradition among Ga1ician scientist; and also determining the authenticity of the geological terminology, taking as a basis the following points: a) The existence of terminology in the living language, where certain phenomena scientifically recognizable are described. b) Words used as toponyms, pointing out a place by the geographic and enviromental characteristics. c) Its tradition in the scientific and technicallanguages, in Galicia as well as in Portugal or Brazil; Considering the linguistic system shared by Portugal, Galicia and Brazil as a whole, in order to make easier the choice of a word, which may be questionable. Stress must also be laid upon the scientific and technicallanguage setting in relation to the recently admittance ofSpain and Portugal into the EEC. We must add the process of lexical and graphic standardization this new situation endures, as our countries will have to participate in programs such as EUROTRA (launched by EEC, it is a new system for automatically which will be the SYSTRAN substitute); EUROMATIQUE (a multilingual information system) or EUROLEXIC (related to the dictionaries' production).
