Juan Emar frente a la crítica. El artista y el arte en el contexto artístico chileno de principios del siglo XX

Abstract

[Resumen] En este trabajo nos ocuparemos de analizar las controvertidas opiniones de Juan Emar hacia la crítica de su tiempo, realizadas a través de sus artículos de arte y su obra Miltín 1934 (1935) con el objetivo de esclarecer el funcionamiento del campo artístico chileno de comienzos del siglo XX, concretamente, en referencia al conflicto entre los vanguardistas y la sólida tradición realista, criollista y nacionalista chilena. Por otra parte, nos interesa analizar cómo Emar compone esas críticas en función del canal de comunicación: la prensa, en el primer caso, y la narrativa de ficción, en el segundo caso. Para ello, nos valdremos de los textos primarios, así como de la teoría en torno al fenómeno de la vanguardia.

[Abstract] In this work, we will analyse the controversial opinions of Juan Emar towards the criticism of his time in his art articles and his work Miltín 1934 (1935). The aim of this work is to clarify the functioning of the Chilean artistic field at the beginning of the century XX. We will study the conflict between the avant-garde and the solid realist and nationalist Chilean tradition. Besides, we are interested in analysing how Emar composes these criticisms based on the communication channel: the press, in the first case, and the fiction, in the second case. For this, we will use the primary texts, as well as the theory about avant-garde movement.
