Regreso a Nova Crunia: una visión global de las tres ediciones del MOOC Sostenibilidad en la era del Big Data

Abstract

[Resumen] Las instituciones de educación superior tratan de contribuir cada vez más a la sociedad, incorporando acciones de desarrollo sostenible en su manera de funcionar y en el curriculum académico. Asimismo, en la actualidad la enseñanza tradicional convive la virtual. Es por ello que el MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) “Sostenibilidad en la era del Big Data” (SEBD) nace como una forma de contribuir a estos objetivos. La finalidad es expandir el conocimiento más allá de las aulas universitarias, pero también concienciar a la sociedad acerca de la necesidad de un desarrollo más sostenible, teniendo en cuenta la oportunidad que nos brinda el Big Data. Tras tres ediciones del MOOC, concluimos que el aprendizaje a través de este tipo de herramientas es efectivo, en base a lo que los/as estudiantes nos han trasladado, habiendo utilizado para ello una estructura y exposición de contenidos organizada y clara, y empleado técnicas como la gamificación. Así, consideramos que el éxito del MOOC que se presenta debería animar a desarrollar más iniciativas similares, de forma que ayude a conectar la universidad con la sociedad y aprovechando la oportunidad que nos ofrece el avance de las nuevas tecnologías.

[Abstract] Higher education institutions are increasingly trying to contribute to society by incorporating sustainable development actions in their way of functioning and in the academic curriculum. Also, nowadays, traditional teaching and e-learning coexist. Due to this fact, the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) "Sostenibilidad en la era del Big Data" (SEBD) is born as a way to contribute to these objectives. The aim is to expand knowledge beyond university classrooms, but also to raise awareness in society about the need for a more sustainable development, taking into account the opportunity that Big Data offers us. After three editions of the MOOC, we conclude that learning through this type of tool is effective, based on what the students have told us, having used an organized and clear content structure and presentation, as well as employed techniques such as gamification. Thus, we believe that the success of the MOOC presented here should encourage the development of more similar initiatives, thus helping to connect university with society and taking advantage of the opportunity offered by the advance of new technologies.
