[Abstract] During the past 12 years (2006-2012), most of Mexico’s government advertising has

to improve the social perception of the increasingly questioned Mexican armed forces.
In this scenario, there is a minority of advertising messages that provide an alternative
approach to the conflict over drug trafficking and that establish the basis, from the
communication, for the implementation of public policies that allow to overcome the
stage of violence through which the North American country. Throughout this article
those advertising pieces, that are contrary to the hegemonic current of Mexican
government advertising, are analyzed
