La historia de la educación en México: nuevos enfoques y fuentes para la investigación

Abstract

[Resumen] La historia de la educación en México ha transitado por diferentes etapas a lo largo del siglo XX; los años ochenta constituyen el momento de definición para ésta área de estudio. Resulta necesario conocer el proceso que ha experimentado un país como México al intentar estudiar su historia educativa. En este artículo se analiza en pri- mer lugar el camino recorrido a lo largo del siglo XX; después, se presentan los espacios institucionales que han impulsado la investigación en este campo; y como tercer punto se ofrece un panorama sobre los objetos de estudio que actualmente interesan a los inves- tigadores. Así mismo se anotan las nuevas temáticas que hoy en día se desarrollan en los institutos y centros de investigación del país. Por último, se ofrece un apartado sobre las fuentes y archivos que encierran materiales valiosísimos sobre la historia de la edu- cación en México.

[Abstract] The History of Education in Mexico has passed through various stages over the course of the 20th Century; the 1980s were a defining moment for this area of study; it is essential to know how a country like Mexico has evolved in order to study the History of its Education. This article first analyzes the long trajectory made during the 20th century; Secondly, it presents the institutional spaces that have propelled research in this field; thirdly, it gives an overview of the objects of study that currently interest researchers. Also it pre- sents the new themes that are being developed in research centers and institutes across the country. Finally, the article offers a section on the sources and archives that hold priceless materials on the History of Education in Mexico.
