La predicación en la tradición calvinista: un caso de estudio basado en templos presbiterianos en Santiago de Chile

Abstract

[Resumen] Cuando se estudia la Reforma Protestante, se nota el surgimiento de cuatro tradiciones que aún se manifiestan en el mundo occidental: luterana, calvinista, anglicana y anabaptista. La comunicación que planteamos toma en cuenta un importante elemento de la tradición calvinista (también identificada como reformada o presbiteriana): la predicación. Este ejercicio se llevará a cabo examinando el presbiterio o mobiliario en los templos de las más antiguas iglesias presbiterianas en la ciudad de Santiago, enfocándose especialmente en el de la calle Santo Domingo, que alberga la congregación de la Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana de Santiago de Chile. Era un templo anglicano que fue comprado por los reformados de la capital. Los demás templos siempre pertenecieron a las iglesias presbiterianas. Por medio de estos locales de culto, se pretende señalar tanto matices de la teología practicada por los presbiterianos chilenos como posibles influencias de otras tradiciones en lo que corresponde a su liturgia

[Abstract] When one studies the Protestant Reformation, one notices the emergence of four traditions that still manifest themselves in the western world: Lutheran, Calvinist, Anglican and Anabaptist. This study will consider an important element of the Calvinist tradition (also identified as Reformed or Presbyterian): the preaching. It will take place examining the presbytery or furniture in the temples of the oldest Presbyterian churches in the city of Santiago, focusing specifically on the one located in the street Santo Domingo, which hosts the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Santiago de Chile. It was an Anglican temple that was purchased by the reformed of the capital. The other temples always belonged to the Presbyterian churches. Through these places of worship, we aim to point out both nuances of the theology practiced by Presbyterians in Chile as well as possible influences of other traditions in the liturgy.
