Teresa de Jesús, precursora de Gabriela Mistral y Alfonsina Storni

Abstract

[Resumen] Este trabajo estudia la reinterpretación de la persona y la obra teresiana a través del pensamiento literario de Gabriela Mistral y Alfonsina Storni, en el seno de un estudio de carácter más amplio. Siguiendo a Borges en sus ensayos «La flor de Coleridge» y «Kafka y sus precursores», se analiza la reapropiación de temas y motivos presentes en la literatura de Teresa de Jesús como recurso de imitación e invención retórica. A través de algunos ejemplos se demuestra la presencia de su idiosincrasia y el valor de la religiosa como figura clave en la genealogía literaria de corte foucauldiano, por medio de la cual estas autoras latinoamericanas del siglo XX legitiman su postura como intelectuales, se insertan en una tradición panhispánica e interactúan con un canon tradicionalmente excluyente para las figuras femeninas.

[Abstract] The aim of this paper is to study the reinterpretation of the figure and the writings of Saint Teresa by means of the literary concepts and ideas developed by Gabriela Mistral and Alfonsina Storni. Following Borges’ approaches to the literary tradition in his essays «Kafka and his Precursors» and «Coleridge’s Flower», we analyze motives and themes from Teresa’s writing as a source of imitation and rhetorical invention. The reading of several excerpts from these 20th-century Latin American female writers validates the presence of Teresa’s idiosyncrasy and significance as a fundamental character in what could called Foucaldian genealogy. They claim her figure as a resource for legitimation while reinserting themselves in a Pan Hispanic tradition, interacting with a conventionally exclusionary literary canon.
