A materia de Bretaña no teatro galego

Abstract

[Resumo] Este traballo supón un achegamento á presenza da materia de Bretaña no teatro galego do último terzo do século XX e, nomeadamente, na obra de dúas das figuras máis representativas deste período: Manuel Lourenzo e Roberto Vidal Bolaño. A través de pezas como Todos os fillos de Galaad (1981), Viva Lanzarote (1982), A sensación de Camelot (1991) e A noite dos cabaleiros (2006) de Lourenzo, ou de Percival (1982) de Vidal Bolaño – que supón unha adaptación á escena do texto narrativo “Percival” (1958) de Xosé Luís Méndez Ferrín– trataremos o aproveitamento para o teatro galego dunha das tres materias de ficción medievais nun momento que supón o rexurdir da actividade teatral tras o período franquista.

[Abstract] The article examines the presence of the Matter of Britain in Galician drama in the last third of the 20th century and, in particular, in the work of two of the most representative figures of this period: Manuel Lourenzo and Roberto Vidal Bolaño. The article analyses plays such as Todos os fillos de Galaad (1981), Viva Lanzarote (1982), A sensación de Camelot (1991) and A noite dos cabaleiros (2006) by Lourenzo, and Percival (1982) by Vidal Bolaño (adapted from the short story of the same name by Xosé Luís Méndez Ferrín, first published in 1958) to explore the use made by Galician theatre of one of the three great story cycles of western medieval literature during the period of theatrical revival that followed the end of the Franco dictatorship.
