Abstract
[Abstract] Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a very common neurobehavioral disorder during childhood and adolescence, with a prevalen ce of 4% to 8%. To examine the implications of playing chess in children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD, the present study conducted a systematic review using the Web of Science, Scopus, and Dialnet databases with the keywords "chess" and "ADHD." Base d on the inclusion criteria and using the PRISMA methodology , 8 of 23 records were included in the review. The present findings showed that, as a therapeutic tool in the multimodal treatment of ADHD, chess can improve emotional control and regulation, as well as inhibition, language skill s and general mood in these patients. However, since the number of published studies on this topic is limited, the possibility of including chess as part of ADHD treatment requires further discussion.
