Abstract

[Abstract] In this brief essay we intend to focus on the capital importance of the intercultural education in the context of the non formal education initiatives, having in consideration that intercultural education is one of the fun- damental principles of the cultural demo- cracy. It’s about, not only of one process of democratization or cultural diffusion in the sense of making available cultural tools to the population, but also to catalyse and to make profitable the potencialities of the communi- ties in order to make social agents active par- ticipants on the continuous construction of the cultural progress, of the sustainable develop- ment of people and communities[Resumo] Neste breve trabalho, pretendemos centrar- nos na importância capital da educação intercultural no âmbito das iniciativas educativas não formais, tendo em consideração que a educação intercultural é um dos princípios fundamentais da democracia cultural. Tratase, não somente de um processo de democratização ou difusão cultural, no sentido de disponibilizar artefactos culturais às populações; mas sim de catalizar e rentabilizar as potencialidades das comunidades de modo a tornar os agentes sociais participantes activos da construção contínua do progresso cultural, do desenvolvimento sustentável das pessoas e das comunidades.
