Abstract
[Resumo] O ensino secundario acada o seu asentamento moderno dentro do
sistema educativo español na segunda metade do século XIX. No artigo
estudiamos os libros de texto de Ciencias Naturais que foron empregados nese
nivel educativo en Galicia nese importante período. Para iso indicamos o grao de
utilización polos alumnos, comparando co acontecido no resto do Estado español,
e analizamos os contidos, nomeadamente os relativos ós aspectos biolóxicos.
Prestamos especial atención ós textos publicados en Galicia, por seren pouco
coñecidos e posuír notable interese na parte final da etapa estudiada. En xeral,
apreciamos que os libros de texto de Ciencias Naturais constituiron unha
[Abstract] Secondary education achivies its modern consolidation in the Spanish educative system in the second hall 01 19th. century. In this paper we study natural science textbooks that were used at this educational level in Galicia (Spain) during this important periodo In order to do so, we indicate the extent to which they are used by the pupils, comparing these data to the other regions 01 Spain. We also analyze the contents, namely those related to biological aspects. We pay special attention to textbooks published in Galicia, because they are less well known and are particularly interesting in the lalter par! of the period studied. In general, we observe that natural science textbooks were a common way to spread modern theories of biology.
