Gramática e teorização linguística em Portugal : a Gramática Filosófica de Jerónimo Soares Barbosa

[Resumo] A Gramática filosófica da língua portuguesa (1822) de Jerónimo Soares Barbosa é um dos textos fundamentais da tradição gramatical portuguesa. Em todo o seu texto e particularmente na Introdução podem-se encontrar observações de interesse sobre temas centrais da teorização lingüística da época: a necessidade de uma gramática científica elaborada a partir de princípios rigorosos, as conexões das regras da linguagem com as regras lógicas, a divisão e conteúdo das partes da gramática e a urgência da reforma do ensino gramatical.[Abstract] Jerónimo Soares Barbosa´s A Philosophical Grammar of Portuguese is a key work in the studies of Portuguese grammar. In this text, and most particularly in the Introduction, we can find interesting observations about the linguistic theory of that time: the need for a scientific grammar based upon objective principles; the need to reform the teaching of grammar; the connection between the rules of language and the rules of logic, and the content and division of all parts of grammar.
