Abstract
[Resumen] La educación y las cuestiones educativas constituyen un tema clave tanto en la vida
como en la obra de Josefa Amar y Borbón (Zaragoza, 1753), una de las más destacadas figuras
de la Ilustración española. En este texto se analizan sus escritos sobre educación, en especial su
Discurso sobre la educación física y moral de la mujeres publicado en 1790 (esquema general,
destinatarios, propósito, influencias, rasgos ilustrados y neojansenistas, usos y significados del
término naturaleza, igualdad y desigualdades de género), así como la recepción de su obra en la
historiografía educativa española y la relación de dicho escrito con su otro Discurso en defensa
del talento de las mujeres (1786). Asimismo, se realiza un análisis comparativo de las propuestas
de Josefa Amar y Borbón sobre la educación de las mujeres con otras efectuadas en Francia
y España durante los años finales del siglo XVIII y los primeros del siglo XIX.
[Abstract] Up-bringing and educational issues are key subjects in both !he lite and writings of Josefa Amar y Borbón (Saragossa, 1753), one of !he most distinguished figures of !he Spanish Enlightenment. This article presents an analysis of her writings on education, particularly her Discourse on !he physical and moral education of women, published in 1790 (general outline, !he people it was intended for, aims, aspects related to !he Enlightenment and neo-Jansenism, uses and meanings of !he word nature, gender equality and inequality). Also discussed is how her work was received in Spanish educational historiography and !he relationship of this text with her other Discourse in which she defends !he talen! of women (1786). Moreover, !he article offers a comparative analysis between Amar y Borbon's proposals on women's education and other proposals on this subject pul forward in France and Spain in !he late 18th and early 19th centuries
