Abstract

[Abstract] This paper is based on the hypothesis that through literary creation it is possible to configure an Iberian cultural memory or, more specifically, to articulate shared memories, between the different cultural realities that comprise the Iberian space. This article aims to establish a comparative approach to two proposals that point in this direction: Mar revolto (2001) by Roberto Vidal Bolaño and Nome: Bonita (2014) by Vanesa Sotelo. These two plays focus on the recovery of the historical memory of the Iberian dictatorial past in the 20th century. The approach to the plays, which should be considered part of the corpus of the literature or theatre of memory, will be carried out from the theoretical-methodological framework of cultural memory studies. The purpose is to focus on and compare how Mar revolto and Nome: Bonita approach the historical-cultural dialogue Galicia-Portugal (or Galicia-Portugal-Brazil in the case of Sotelo) and construct a shared Galician-Portuguese imaginary based on the recovery of the memory of the dictatorial (or anti-dictatorial) experiences of Francoism and Salazarism.
