Tradução teatral para galego no período 1916-1936: corpus atualizado de obras e das suas fontes à luz de descobertas recentes

Abstract

[Resumo] Neste artigo apresentam-se algumas significativas descobertas recentes sobre a a tradução teatral para galego entre 1916 e 1936 e, a partir de aí, enfrentam-se os seguintes desafios: (1) traçar todo o corpus conhecido de traduções deste período, incluindo na relação as traduções que foram consideradas perdidas e que felizmente foram localizadas há não muito tempo pelo autor deste trabalho; (2) contextualizar estas tarefas de tradução no âmbito dos diferentes projectos de planeamento cultural galego concebidos nessa altura; (3) identificar os seus principais instigadores de um ponto de vista cénico global, bem como as fontes das traduções; (4) apresentar hipóteses bem fundamentadas sobre a autoria dos fragmentos traduzidos e encenados pelos grupos de declamação da Irmandades da Fala, e, finalmente, (5) verificar se a tradução funcionou como uma forma eficaz de reforçar e consolidar a tão almejada autonomia da cultura galega

[Abstract] This article presents some significant recent findings on theatre translation into Galician between 1916 and 1936. Within this context, the following challenges are faced: (1) to trace the entire known corpus of translation from this period, including the list the translations that were considered lost and that were fortunately located not long ago by the author of this work; (2) to contextualise these translation tasks within the framework of the different projects of Galician cultural planning establishedin that era; (3) to identify the main instigators from an overarching point of view, as well as the sources of the translations; (4) to present well-founded hypotheses on the authorship of fragments translated and staged by the declamation groups of the Irmandades da Fala, and, finally, (5) to check whether translation functioned as an effective way of strengthening and consolidating the long sought-after autonomy of Galician culture
