“Dire le nu”: poesía y referencialidad en Pablo Picasso

Abstract

[Resumen] Hay en Pablo Picasso una ambición que, sea por pudor o por simple prudencia, se recata: quien ha reescrito la Historia del Arte, ¿no podría intentarlo con la literatura? ¿No había sido él quien, con el concurso de Apollinaire, había guiado a sus amigos poetas para que emulasen, en su lenguaje propio, lo hecho antes en pintura? Las indagaciones literarias de Picasso giran sobre ese reto esencial. El objeto principal de este trabajo es entender mejor tal proyecto. Sus reflexiones nos acercan a los mecanismos que rigen los dos sistemas representativos en los que crea: lenguaje y pintura. ¿Cómo establece cada uno de ellos la relación con su referente? ¿Hasta qué punto se puede forzar el lenguaje para lograr la expresión? ¿Puede liberarse la palabra del significado? ¿Es posible la síntesis?

[Abstract] Due to modesty or simple prudence, we observe in Pablo Picasso a hidden ambition: he who had rewritten the History of Art, could he not attempt to achieve a similar goal in literature? Along with Apollinaire, Picasso had guided his poet friends to emulate in their own writing what had been already accomplished in painting. Picasso's literary inquiries revolve around this essential challenge, which this article seeks to understand. Picasso's reflections provide an approach to the mechanisms that govern the two representative systems in which he created: language and painting. ln relation to these problema, this article aims to answer the following questions: how do these two representative systems establish relationships with their referents? To what extent is it possible to force language to achieve a certain kind of expression? Can a word be liberated from its meaning? Is a synthesis of language and painting possible?
