Abstract
[Abstract] The aim of this work is to reflect on academic failure in the light of results derived from the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). We think that academic failure cannot be considered independently of other variables (i.e., the investment in education) and that the answers to this problem do not depend exclusively on agents involved in the educational process. On the contrary, academic results are a reflection of the ability of the system to put, and optimize, the necessary resources to cope with problems. Therefore, results of PISA survey with regard to Spanish Educational System are interpreted in terms of the efforts dedicated by Spanish society in education
