Although she has become popular through her breakup and diaristic songs, Swift has cultivated a vast variety of themes that include feminism, resilience, self-discovery, friendship and even, political statements. This dissertation will navigate her lyricism, providing an analysis of songs across her entire discography. Swift's mastery of storytelling is evident as she draws inspiration from literary giants to create her award-winning narratives, proving that classic literature can resonate with a contemporary audience on a profound level. Throughout her extensive body of work, this study will comment upon references to English and American literature from different centuries, including Romeo and Juliet, The Scarlet Letter, Jane Eyre, or the Lake Poets, among others. After a nearly twenty-year-old musical career, Swift’s unprecedented achievements have redefined the boundaries of popular music, earned positive critical acclaim and broke her own records repeatedly. Her long list of milestones will distinguish her from the rest of artists of the current music scene. This thesis aims to shed a light on Swift’s literary inspirations, proving the maturity and complexity of her lyrics through an exploration of her diverse influences and artistic evolution.engOs titulares dos dereitos de propiedade intelectual autorizan a visualización do contido deste traballo a través de Internet, así como a súa reproducción, gravación en soporte informático ou impresión para o seu uso privado e/ou con fins de estudo e de investigación.
