Esta se cifra en la estrecha relación que siempre tuvo con las principales casas editoriales americanas, en su capacidad de intervención en el mundo editorial estadounidense y en la clarividencia que manifestó en la apuesta por géneros y autorías que habrían de convertirse en referentes internacionales de la literatura en español y portugués, concretamente el boom hispanoamericano de los 60 o los clásicos del xx de la literatura brasileña. Si bien contamos con la crónica de su trayectoria a partir de los años 50, carecemos, hoy en día, de trabajos que profundicen en su labor durante los años 20, período que abordamos en el presente artículo a fin de dar a conocer documentación e información inédita.[Abstract] The relevance and impact of Harriet Wishnieff in the translation, publication, and dissemination of Spanish and Spanish American literature in the United States during the decades following the Second World War constitute a noteworthy milestone, because of her tenacity, but above all for her ability to exert influence through the close relationships she consistently maintained with leading American publishing houses, her capacity for intervention in the U.S. editorial world, and her remarkable foresight in championing genres and authorships that would later become international touchstones of Spanish and Portuguese-language literature—specifically, the Latin American Boom of the 1960s and the twentieth- classics of Brazilian literature.
