Abstract
[Abstract] The article explains the vision of the teaching of Roman Law and its aims expressed by different candidates for university chairs in this subject in the first half of the 20th century. To do this, the reports submitted by the various candidates, which were mandatory since 1923, are analysed. These documents are kept in the General Archive of the Administration. Furthermore, this work develops an analysis of all the public competitive examinations open to both external and internal candidates until the reform of the university norms in 1943
