Abstract
[Abstract] The stochastic collocation method is applied to assess the impact of uncertainties in the angle of attack and the turbulence intensity in the force coefficients and flutter derivatives of a short-gap twin-box deck. A level-3 sparse grid has been adopted, and the deterministic realizations have been obtained by means of 2D URANS simulations. It has been found that the uncertainty in the aerodynamic and aeroelastic outputs is low to moderate, and in general, is higher for the flutter derivatives at larger reduced velocities. Furthermore, Sobol indices are reported, which provides a metric for the sensitivity of the outputs with the considered random variables. The adoption of nested quadrature points has enabled an efficient use of the computational resources, by requiring a reasonable number of CFD simulations for the deterministic realizations.
