Abstract
[Abstract] The purpose of the present study is to prove the existing possible multiple goals combinations and establish their corresponding motivational profiles in a sample with college students. Differences found among those profiles according to some affect-motivational variables and learning strategies are also analyzed. Results allow identifying four distinct groups of motivational profiles product of different goals combinations. The profiles that seem to be more adaptive academically are those of the students in the group moderately oriented to learning, outcome and image preservation – group 2, and in the group moderately oriented to learning (performance oriented) – group 3. On the other end, the less adaptive profile seems to be the one of the smallest group of students, group 2, primarily oriented to outcomes, showing a low degree of motivation to learning, although moderately worried with image preservation and task avoidance.
