Abstract
[Abstract] Workaholism is a term that has been gathering importance in the latest years. It refers to an excess of work due to an uncontrollable impulse generated by internal pressure. However, addicts do not enjoy their work. Workaholism causes a psycho-social damage, since the worker presents signs of psychological unrest, stress, irritation, etc. There are several attributes that increase the possibility of suffering from this addiction, as well as several consequences at individual and organisational levels. This situation makes prevention methods highly relevant. It is also important to differentiate between workaholism and engagement, since they can be confused at first sight. The confusion between both could be detrimental for the organisation, because there is a big difference as regards performance and productivity.
