Desfronterización performativa. Pintar, lijar y espejear el borde

[Resumen] Asumiendo el concepto de desterritorialización las teorías de la desfronterización proponen pensar un mundo sin fronteras. En este contexto, exploraremos tres posibilidades artísticas entre México y Estados Unidos. Pintar (y deconstruir) la frontera. Erasing the Border de Ana Teresa Fernández (2012) es una intervención pictórica del muro fronterizo que abordaremos como praxis deconstructiva. Lijar (y desterritorializar) la frontera. Reconocer el paisaje de Abraham Ávila (2018) es una intervención donde el artista lija parte del muro para dar continuidad al paisaje, que pensaremos desde la desfronterización como desterritorialización. Espejear (y descolonizar) la frontera. Makes a Mirage de SV Randall (2018) es un gesto performativo donde miembros de la comunidad se reunieron para realizar un espejismo colectivo utilizando paneles reflectantes, que valoraremos en perspectiva descolonial.

[Abstract] Assuming the concept of deterritorialization, debordering theories propose to think of a world without borders. In this context, we will explore three artistic possibilities between Mexico and the United States. Paint (and deconstruct) the border. Erasing the Border by Ana Teresa Fernández (2012) is a pictorial intervention of the border wall that we will approach as a deconstructive praxis. Sand (and deterritorialize) the border. Recognizing the landscape by Abraham Ávila (2018) is an intervention where the artist sands down part of the wall to give continuity to the landscape, which we will think of from debordering as deterritorialization. Mirroring (and decolonizing) the border. Makes a Mirage by SV Randall (2018) is a performative gesture where members of the community came together to create a collective mirage using reflective panels, which we will value from a decolonial perspective.
