Abstract
[Abstract] The objective of this study is to analyze the satisfaction and adherence of older adults to the use of current hearing aids. A systematic review of the scientific literature was conducted between 2016 and 2025, gathering studies that evaluated the experience of using hearing aids in individuals over 60 years of age based on technical, emotional, and social factors. The results show a high level of satisfaction, in general, with modern hearing aids due to technological advances, such as wireless connectivity, noise cancellation, and personalized fitting. However, daily adherence is variable. Among the key factors for adherence are: the perception of social benefits, comfort, professional support, and the user's self-efficacy. The most common barriers to adherence are: physical discomfort, social stigma, low perception of need, and lack of information. It is concluded that, although technology has improved the functionality of hearing aids, adherence does not depend exclusively on these advancements. Emotional, cognitive, aesthetic, and contextual aspects strongly influence the user experience. Therefore, a biopsychosocial approach is proposed that includes technical and emotional support, continous training, and speech therapy training for prosthetic adaptation as keys to successful auditory rehabilitation.
