Quiebra del Antiguo Régimen, articulación del estado y desarrollo capitalista en la urbanización de España (1833-1936)

Abstract

[Resumen]: El objetivo es examinar el proceso de urbanización de España en el largo plazo, y cómo la historiografía lo ha interpretado en los últimos años. Frente a la tradicional tesis del fracaso, trabajos recientes abogan por sostener caracterizaciones menos categóricas. Desde el primer tercio del siglo XIX se articularon los factores que conformaron el siguiente medio siglo de despegue del país. La quiebra del Antiguo Régimen, los inicios del capitalismo, la nueva organización territorial, los equipamientos urbanos... constituyen elementos que demuestran un dinamismo en absoluto despreciable.[Abstract]: The aim is to examine the urbanization process of Spain in the long run, and how the historiography has interpreted this topic lately. As opposed to traditional arguments of Spanish failure, recent studies support less categorical characterizations. From the first third of the nineteenth century the factors that shaped the next half century of development of the country took off. The collapse of the Ancient Regime, the beginnings of capitalism, the new territorial organization, the urban facilities… demonstrate a dynamism that is negligible.
