Abstract
[Abstract] Pollen analysis of a recent peatbog of Serra de Queixa (Ourense, Galicia, Spain) indicates a very open regional vegetation cover, with Betula as dominant tree. Other tree pollen types such as Corylus, Alnus, Quercus, Pinus and Salix are present but rare and become sporadicaly observed. The herbaceous taxa are mainly represented by Poaceae and Calluna. The decrease of woodland on behalfof non arboreal vegetation seerns to be a consequence of human influence, indicated by the presence of Plantago, Artemisia, Chenopodiaceae, Rumex and Asphodellus.
