Abstract
[Resumo]: En xeral, os estudos migratorios españois centráronse nas etapas do destino americano ou europeo. No presente traballo abórdanse conxuntamente ambos os dous destinos a partir dos padróns municipais da vila galega de Carballo. A devandita fonte explótase exhaustivamente para delimitar ao máximo o perfil dos emigrantes e establece comparacións co conxunto da poboación municipal e ao longo do tempo. Ponse de manifesto a precocidade, importancia, persistencia e polarización do fenómeno migratorio nesta localidade, así como a relevancia das cadeas migratorias para a súa configuración.
[Abstract]: In general, the Spanish studies on migrations have focused in the stages of the American or European destination. In this article both stages will be analysed jointly, using as the main source the population census of Carballo, an important Galician town. This source will be deeply analysed in order to better know the full profile of the emigrants, establishing comparisons with the whole local population and along the time. This work shows the precocity, importance, persistence and polarisation of the migratory process in this town, as well as the importance of the migratory networks in order to explain its configuration.
