Análisis formal de las fases constructivas del Castillo de San Felipe de Ferrol

Abstract

El castillo de San felipe es un brillante ejemplo de fortificación costera adaptada a su entorno, del fuerte original del siglo XVI, sobre el que se plantea un estudio cronológico de sus transformaciones y evolución constructiva. Poco ha llegado a nuestros días de una obra que permaneció en pie casi dos siglos. Más del 70% del conjunto pertenece a la primera mitad del siglo XVIII, completándose hasta el 90% antes del siglo XIX, siguiendo un periodo de intervenciones que desvirtúan la imagen original, hasta nuestros días con nuevas propuestas de reutilización.

Abstract: The Saint Philip castle is an outstanding example of coast fortification adapts to the environment, the original fort of the sixteenth century. The present study proposes a chronological study of its transformations and structural development. Few remains are kept of a building which was stnding up during almost two centuries. More than 70% of the complex belongs to the first hall of the ighteenth century. It was completed until the 90% before the nineteenth century, following a period of interventions which denatured the original image. Nowadays, new reuse proposals are suggested.
