Abstract

[Abstract] The Sports Education Model (MED) seems to be effective in improving some psychosocial variables in Spanish students in the secondaryeducationand Baccalaureate stages. However, the disparity in interventions performed using the MED makes it difficult to establish their selection. Therefore, the aim of this systematic review is to explore the benefits of the MED on psychosocial variables and to identify which MED variables are most influential and beneficial. For the preparation of the review, the Prisma guide was followed and the Scopus, Dialnet, EBSCO and ERIC databases were consulted. 12 articles were selected and analyzed. The PEDro scale was used to analyse the methodological quality of the included studies. The MED seems to be effective with a durationof 12 sessions to improve intrinsic motivation, decrease demotivation and increase basic psychological needs, regardless of the sport used, gender and age of the participants. In light of the results obtained, the use of the MED is recommended with the aim of generating motivation in secondary educationand high schoolstudents in the Spanish educational context.
