Abstract
[Abstract] The aim of the present article is to further spot Freemasonic contests in Roque Barcia's dictionary, compiled in an specially agitated period of history of Spain, and since nowadays it is undoubtedly known that he was a Free-mason. In order to analyse those contents, the implications of "oneself" are taken into account in those entry sections devoted to explaining the symbolic value of lexical units from the viewpoint of certain trinomials (freedom/equality/fraternity), (ignorance/fanatism/ambition, etc.) and binomials or concept dualisms (vice/virtue, error/truth, etc). As a relevant conclusion it can be pointed out that Barcia expounds the meaning of words with a view to transmiting moral values and to enlighten individuals out of ignorance and into an integral education.
