Las primeras ferias de la industria naval en Ferrol: desde el proyecto arquitectónico al legado urbano

Abstract

[Resumen] El desarrollo que se produce en la construcción naval española durante la segunda mitad del siglo veinte se muestra a la sociedad a través de diversas ferias industriales y exposiciones periódicas. Entre ellas, las celebradas en Ferrol y su entorno adquieren una importancia singular, al emplear la arquitectura moderna de los diferentes pabellones como una herramienta fundamental para evidenciar los logros alcanzados en la industria naval del momento. En el año 1953 se celebra la I Feria de Industria y Artesanía en el Parque Municipal y, a partir de los años sesenta, se trasladan a un recinto ferial propio ubicado al norte de la ciudad. Allí se proyectan diferentes pabellones, tanto permanentes como efímeros, configurando junto a otros equipamientos un nuevo espacio urbano que permanece como un legado de la industria marítima a la ciudad.

[Abstract] The development that occurs in Spanish shipbuilding during the second half of the twentieth century is shown through various trade fairs and exhibitions. In Ferrol and its surroundings that exhibitions took on a special significance, using the modern architecture of the different pavilions as a fundamental tool to demonstrate the achievements of the shipbuilding industry of the moment. The first Industry and Crafts Fair was held in 1953 in the City Park, and from the sixties, the exhibitions move to a fairground located north of the city. Several pavilions were projected for the new site, both permanent and ephemeral, forming with other equipment a new urban space that remains as a legacy of the maritime industry to the city.
