Alexander, the King in Shining Armour

Abstract

[Abstract] This paper deals with an aspect of Alexander the Great's representation that had not been systematically studied by the modern scholars as yet, the refulgent panoply of the Macedonian king in combat. The author collects the passages where this motif appears, examines the sources and presents some parallels in the Greek literary and iconographic tradition.[Resumen] Este artículo aborda un aspecto de la representación de Alejandro Magno que aún no había sido estudiado sistemáticamente por los eruditos modernos, la panoplia refulgente del rey macedonio en combate. El autor recoge los pasajes donde aparece este motivo, examina las fuentes y presenta algunos paralelos en la tradición literaria e iconográfica griega.
