Estratégias de socializaçâo e vinculaçâo com a metrópole do enclave galego de Lisboa entre os séculos XIX e XX

Abstract

[Resumo] Pretende-se nesta comunicação analisar o percurso do enclave galego em Lisboa entre as últimas décadas do século XIX e primeiras do século XX. As balizas propostas coincidem, grosso modo, com um período relevante no âmbito geral do fenómeno migratório galego, mas também no que diz respeito à história da emigração galega a Portugal. Serão analisadas as características específicas da colónia galega da capital portuguesa. Nomeadamente, será objectivo deste trabalho apontar as estratégias de socialização dos emigrantes galegos e identificar as actividades e instituições criadas para tal fim, como por exemplo Juventud de Galicia (1908). Por sua vez, e necessariamente em relação com o anterior, será também objectivo deste trabalho descrever e analisar os vínculos que o enclave mantém com a metrópole.[Abstract] This paper offers a study of the trajectory of the Galician enclave in Lisbon in the last decades of the 19th century and in the early 20th century. The chronological frame for this study roughly coincides with an important period in both the Galician migratory phenomenon, and in the more general history of Galician emigration to Portugal. The specific characteristics of the Galician colony in the Portuguese capital will be analysed within this context. One particular aim of this study will be to signpost the socialising strategies of the Galician emigrants by means of the identification of activities and institutions created specifically for this purpose, such as Juventud de Galicia (1908). Another goal of this paper, which is necessarily related to this aspect, will be to describe and scrutinize the bonds that the enclave kept with the metropolis.
