Abstract
[Abstract]: The system developed in this undergraduate thesis proposes a web application that gathers information about all degree programs offered at the Universidade da Coruña (UDC). Its purpose is to assist current (and prospective) students in making informed decisions regarding their annual university course enrollments, by providing visualized statistics of subjects and enabling information exchange among interested users. For each degree program, the system displays the subjects it comprises. For each subject, it presents statistics from the last three academic years (as well as an overall average for all available years), including the number of enrolled students, pass rates, fail rates, and absentees. This data can serve as a useful indicator of a subject’s difficulty. Additionally, the web application features a comment system for each subject, allowing students to exchange advice, share information, and provide all kinds of feedback to support one another regarding the respective courses. To facilitate quick access to preferred subjects, the system includes a favorites feature that lets users add or remove subjects from their personal favorites list. The technologies used to develop the application include Django and Django Rest Framework for the backend, and React.js and Tailwind CSS for the frontend. This system arises from the need for a platform that consolidates clear and accessible information about university subjects in one place, as well as user-generated evaluations. The lack of an application with these features motivated the development of this tool, which aims to encourage more informed and collaborative decision-making among students.
