Abstract
[Resumen]: La tecnología ocupa un lugar fundamental en nuestras vidas, no sólo en los dispositivos que utilizamos, sino también en los servicios que consumimos. Estos servicios se apoyan en infraestructuras críticas ubicadas en centros de datos formadas por routers, conmutadores, cabinas de almacenamiento y servidores, entre otros elementos. Garantizar el correcto funcionamiento de este equipamiento es esencial para asegurar la continuidad y fiabilidad de los servicios. Así, la monitorización tiene un papel clave para que esto sea posible. En este trabajo se estudian las tecnologías disponibles y se exploran varias herramientas de monitorización para instalar y configurar dos herramientas de código abierto sobre una infraestructura formada por equipos de red, servidores físicos y virtuales, y servicios ofrecidos a través de contenedores Docker. Finalmente, se presentan las conclusiones derivadas de la comparación práctica entre Zabbix y Prometheus en la monitorización de un entorno de laboratorio diseñado para aproximarse a las condiciones de una infraestructura real.
[Abstract]: Technology plays a fundamental role in our lives, not only in the devices we use but also in the services we consume. These services rely on critical infrastructures located in data centers, consisting of routers, switches, storage systems, and servers, among other components. Ensuring the proper functioning of this equipment is essential to guarantee the continuity and reliability of the services. Thus, monitoring plays a key role in making this possible. This work examines the available technologies and explores several monitoring tools in order to install and configure two open-source solutions on an infrastructure composed of network devices, physical and virtual servers, and services deployed through Docker containers. Finally, the conclusions are presented, derived from the practical comparison between Zabbix and Prometheus in monitoring a laboratory environment designed to approximate the conditions of a real infrastructure.
