Posibilidades del cartón como recurso constructivo: aplicación para módulo de carácter emergencial en Brasil

Abstract

[Abstract] In catastrophe and natural disasters situations, emergency shelters are an evident need and priority, as well as agility in transportation and construction, especially in countries without adequate structure. The shelters should be light weight and easy to build, and it is convenient to be made by the victims themselves, implying that this should be easy and self-taught. Brazil has been affected by natural disasters year after year, and part of the population, commonly low income, has been impacted by these events, while the administration and government are not efficient about the assistance provided to the victims. This paper proposes an emergency shelter for the Brazilian situation, following the recommendations of humanitarian aid institutions, using cardboard as a main constructive resource, an easy obtaining and manufacturing material in the country, low coast, and also supposing a material with high rates of recycling.
