La buena madre: discursos y prácticas neoliberales

Abstract

[Resumen] En este artículo nos hemos interrogado sobre cómo afectan las “nuevas tendencias” y discursos, denominados contraculturales, a la hora de analizar el ejercicio de la maternidad en el contexto español actual. Para ello hemos investigado sobre los diferentes significados socioculturales que representa la maternidad encarnándose en la figura identitaria de la “buena madre”. Este modelo, resurgido con fuerza en las últimas décadas, aparece intensificado bajo sutiles y neoliberales condicionantes que, por una parte, realzan las diferencias de género, mientras que, por otra parte, y mediante su aplicación práctica inciden en aquellas desigualdades de clase. De ahí la necesidad de someter a una crítica feminista las exigencias y elitismos de estos presentes discursos tan edulcorados de “libre elección”.

[Abstract] In this article we have asked about how new trends and discourses, called contracultural, affect the analysis of the exercise of motherhood in the current Spanish context. For this we have investigated the different sociocultural meanings that motherhood represents, embodying the identity figure of the “good mother”. This model resurfaced with force in the last decades, appears intensified under subtle and neoliberal conditions that, on the one hand, highlight gender differences, while on the other hand, and through their practical application, they affect those class inequalities. We need to submit to a feminist critique the demands and elitism of these so freely debated speeches of “free choice”.
