Abstract

[Abstract]: We present a novel approach to Direct Antenna Multi-Modulation (DAMM) leveraging Time-Modulated Array (TMA) technology, employing a simplified and cost-effective feeding network equipped with 2-bit phase shifters and digitally controlled Variable Gain Amplifiers (VGAs). This technique enables direct implementation of FSK, PSK and QAM modu-lation schemes within the antenna by utilizing periodic linear-phase time-modulating waveforms. Furthermore, in contrast to conventional phased arrays equipped with high-resolution Variable Phase Shifters (VPSs), but still subject to quantized phases, the TMA can deliver Beam Steering (BS) with virtually continuous angular resolution.
