Abstract
[Abstract]: This work covers the development of the proposed methodology for the automation of detection and classification of obstacles in river beds, using data collected by LiDAR sensing drones and Ortophotos. The study is framed inside the project Innovaugas 4.0, which helps the need of an advanced and enhanced management of the galician hydric resources, through a multitude of tools and integrated systems. The data whose management is to be eased is of very diverse nature: historic data, precipitation predictions, temperatures, water quality analysis results and other measurements collected by the sensors of the ”Augas de Galicia” administration. The enhancement, optimization and preservation of the aforementioned hydric resources of Galicia is seeked, as well as the creation and improvement of an infrastructure that enables its proper management. The administration aims to use these series of tools to achieve the fulfillment of the environmental objectives, both short and long term, and always looking forward to a future where climate change will play an important role, creating new challenges for the management of these hydric resources. Specifically, a methodology that detects and classifies a series of obstacles present in and around galician rivers is to be developed, to reach a higher degree of automation in the hydromorphological characterization labours. This will be done through the development and application of data processing techniques, mainly with LiDAR data point clouds, and ortophotos. This project can then be understood as a 3D object detection and characterization task, through LiDAR cloud data processing techniques and computer vision, in the context of river hydric masses in Galicia.
