“[e]scrofulas, que dizen porcas”: notas críticas y léxicas sobre un pasaje del Tratado de Alveitaria

Abstract

[Resumen] Resumen Este trabajo analiza un pasaje de la traducción gallega del tratado de veterinaria de Giordano Ruffo, reproducida en el ms. 23076 de la Biblioteca Nacional de España, de principios del siglo XV, con el objeto de ofrecer las claves para su establecimiento filológico. Por un lado, a partir de otras versiones se propone [e]scrofulas como lectura correcta para la lección erróneamente presentada por los primeros editores como serosullas (término que llegó a hacerse un hueco en la lexicografía gallega). Por otro lado, a partir del corpus lexicográfico (gallego, portugués y castellano) y de algunos textos médicos medievales, se estudian los orígenes y las motivaciones semánticas del término porcas que también se utiliza para nombrar esa misma realidad en el pasaje de la traducción gallega del De medicina equorum.[Abstract] This paper focuses on the analysis of a passage from the Galician version of the treaty on veterinary science by Giordano Ruffo with the aim of offering clues for its philological editing. This translation is recorded in the early fifteenth century ms. 23076 of the Spanish National Library. On the one hand, taking into account other versions, we suggest [e]scrofulas as the most appropriate reading for the lesson mistakenly identified by the first editors as serosullas (a term which eventually found a place in Galician lexicography). On the other hand, taking into account the (Galician, Portuguese and Castilian) lexicographic corpus and other medieval medical texts, we analyse the origins and the semantic motivations of the word porcas which is also used to refer to this same reality in the passage from the Galician version of the De medicina equorum.
