Abstract
[Abstract]: This paper highlights the challenge posed by climate change and the importance of citizens clearly perceiving the existing risks and taking action to combat them. Serious problems such as rising temperatures, droughts, fl oods, forest fi res, rising sea levels and loss of biodiversity make it crucial for the population to take measures to minimise the social, business and territorial impact of this threat, and to feel that it is a challenge in which they must get involved. Th e growing awareness by administrations of the relevance of this global challenge has led to the development of multiple surveys with the aim of knowing and evaluating the opinion of the population. Based on the Eurobarometer on Climate Change data for the years 2009, 2015, 2019 and 2023, this paper analyses the perception and involvement of citizens in Spain and Germany to determine whether there are diff erences between the two countries and whether there are variations over time. Th is research shows that there are signifi cant diff erences between the years, demonstrating that the population is more aware of the reality we are facing and is taking urgent measures to stop this situation.
