Abstract
[Abstract]: The objective and main idea of this work will be to develop an application that transforms a DICOM file into an HDR image. DICOM is used in hospitals, it contains the image of an x-ray, CT or nuclear image, as well as information about the patient and the doctor who cares for that patient or is in charge of performing the medical test. The main idea will be to use HDR technology to benefit from the bit depth and obtain an improvement when viewed on an HDR screen, since in hospitals not all rooms have diagnostic monitors specialized in viewing this type of images. Firstly, to carry out this project, it was necessary to conduct a study on medical terms and technologies used in the field, as well as to understand the technologies and methodologies employed. An analysis was performed to determine the necessary data for the conversion algorithm. Finally, the development of the software application that converts a DICOM into an HDR image took place. This allows for better visualization quality compared to a conventional 8-bit image, such as a JPG, which is one of the most commonly used image formats. Python programming language was used for the implementation of the project, creating a script capable of performing the image conversion. Additional technologies were then integrated into the application. The methodology used throughout the project implementation was the Scrum methodology for software development.
