Turismo responsável no Bom Bom Island Resort

Abstract

[Resumo] Os programas de certificação têm a potencialidade de proporcionar turismo mais sustentável através da definição de standards e avaliação de desempenhos. Permitem, ainda, ajudar a distinguir ecoturismos genuínos, protegendo a integridade deste conceito. O Bom Bom Island Resort (BBIR) está situado a norte da Ilha do Príncipe, em São Tomé e Príncipe, no Golfo da Guiné. Actualmente, o BBIR encontra-se num grande processo de mudança, sendo um dos principais objectivos elevar a qualidade do resort, destacando-o ao nível da sustentabilidade e transformando-o numa referência internacional de boas práticas. Pretende-se desenvolver e aplicar uma política de turismo responsável, fazer parte de e apoiar a economia local, promover e proteger o património natural e cultural, apoiar e investir na conservação do destino e elevar os standards de qualidade do resort. Com o projectar e desenvolver desta transformação tornou-se evidente que um processo de certificação seria totalmente enquadrável e oportuno. Uma vez iniciado este processo e consoante os resultados atingidos é intuito do BBIR procurar um programa de certificação, que se enquadre nos seus objectivos e que permita avaliar e comprovar os esforços e empenho de sustentatibilidade de toda a equipa do resort.

[Abstract] Certification programs have the potential to provide a more sustainable tourism through the definition of standards and evaluation of performances. They also help distinguish a genuine ecotourism (authentic ecotourism), protecting the integrity of this concept. The Bom Bom Island Resort, BBIR? Is located at the northern end of Príncipe Island, in Sao Tome and Principe, in the Gulf of Guinea. Currently, the BBIR is in a major change process, being one of the major objectives to raise the quality of the resort, making stand out the level of sustainability and transforming it into an international reference of good practice. The intention is to develop and implement a policy of responsible tourism, form part of and support the local economy, promote and protect the natural and cultural heritage, supporting and investing in the conservation of the destination and raise the standards of quality of the resort.With this process of transformation is obvious that a certification process would fit perfectly. Once BBIR have started this process and in accordance with the results obtained, will try to obtain a certification program that meets your objectives and to evaluate and verify the efforts and commitment of the sustainability of the whole equipment of the resort.
