| dc.description.abstract | [Abstract] This Bachelor’s Thesis focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of a Deep reinforcement learning system capable of playing the video game Geometry Dash using only visual information from the screen, without access to the game’s internal code. An agent architecture is proposed that detects the active game mode and delegates control to the corresponding specialized agent in real time. After comparing several reinforcement learning algorithms under the same experimental conditions, the most suitable one is selected as the system’s baseline. From there, the main contribution of this work is a comparative study of various adaptation and knowledge trans fer strategies, evaluating the agent’s ability to tackle scenarios unseen during its training. Both continual learning and meta-learning techniques are analyzed, employing performance metrics to determine which approaches offer the best balance between learning speed, final performance, and the retention of prior knowledge. The obtained results provide a guide on which strategy is most appropriate depending on the objective, whether it be preserving previous knowledge, rapidly adapting to a new scenario, or balancing both. | |
