Abstract
[Abstract]: The residents of the General Surgery and Digestive System Service at the University Hospital of A Coruña (CHUAC) dedicate a significant amount of time to the manual preparation of shifts and service assignments at the annual, monthly, and weekly levels. This process is tedious, prone to errors, and consumes resources that could be allocated to other, more valuable tasks. In order to optimize this task, the development of a system based on Answer Set Programming (ASP) has been proposed, aimed at automating the generation of shifts under the specific restrictions and requirements of the service. In this way, the goal is to ensure more efficient planning, reduce the administrative burden on residents, and improve the overall organization of the service.
