Abstract
[Abstract]: The STEMBach programme, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia, constitutes an initiative of educational excellence in the scientific and technological domains, aimed at Baccalaureate students within the autonomous community. Structured as a biennial programme, it includes the development of a supervised research project during the second year. This paper outlines the authors’ experience in proposing and designing Artificial Intelligence projects for pre-university students within the framework of the programme. A work plan based on incremental development is implemented, enabling students to engage actively in all stages of the project—from the formulation of the research question to the implementation of solutions. Beyond introducing the theoretical and practical foundations of Artificial Intelligence, the programme seeks to foster a critical understanding of its role in technological advancement and its broader societal implications. Each project is tailored to the students’ individual interests, thereby enhancing their engagement and motivation—both of which are essential for effective learning. The initiative has yielded notably positive outcomes, with particular emphasis on the high quality of the research projects presented
