Adrien (II) Moetjens bajo la lupa de Martín Sarmiento ¿Bibliofilia o historia literaria?

Abstract

[Resumen] Se analiza el catálogo de libros de la subasta que el librero holandés Adriaen Moetjens realizó en 1732 en La Haya y la elección de libros raros que realiza sobre el mismo Martín Sarmiento. La selección del benedictino muestra el uso de los catálogos como instrumento de formación, y al tiempo su conocimiento previo sobre el campo de los libros raros, así como el carácter cuasi exhaustivo que aplica a los libros raros españoles. Se concluye que Sarmiento tenía un interés que hacía dialogar la bibliofilia y la Historia literaria en la reivindicación de la herencia cultural española.[Abstract] In this work the books catalogue from the auction that the Dutch bookseller Adriaen Moetjens held in 1732 in The Hague so the selection of the rare books that performs on the same Martin Sarmiento are analysed. The Benedictine’s selection shows the use of catalogues as a training tool, both his prior knowledge of the field of rare books, as well as the quasi completeness applying to Spanish rare books. It is concluded that Sarmiento had an interest that made dialogue bibliophile and history of learning in claiming the Spanish cultural heritage.
